What is Reiki?

Picture
Life force energy- referred to as Ki, Chi or Prana- is everywhere. All living things are manifestations of this universal energy, from one-celled organisms to plants and animals.
Reiki is a gentle Japanese technique of energy healing that can support an animal’s natural healing processes and enhance emotional wellbeing.  The term “Reiki” comes from the Japanese word “rei” (sacred or spiritual) and “ki” (life force energy). This energy flows within the physical body through pathways called chakras and meridians, which can become blocked.  When the flow of energy is disrupted, the body’s self-healing processes can become impaired. A Reiki practitioner channels this universal energy and the reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field to release blockages and return the natural flow of positive energy. Similar energy healing techniques to restore energy flow have been used for thousands of years by other cultures: acupuncture, Qi Gong, Pranic Healing, Healing Touch, and Johrei are a few examples.

Your Pet's massage session
Canine Wellness Colorado offers full service massage in the by a certified canine massage therapist. The initial session typically lasts 60 minutes, with time spent reviewing the medical history of the dog client and a pre-massage evaluation including gait analysis.  The initial visit also includes a 15 to 20 minute massage to gently introduce your dog to canine massage.

Massage sessions typically last 30 – 60 minutes, depending on the needs and size of each dog client. Each massage uses techniques customized to meet the unique needs of your dog, which may include heat therapy, stretching and mobility work,  essential oils and relaxing music specially designed for dogs.  Additionally, we teach owners simple massage techniques to use between sessions for maximum healing benefits.
For those who would like to learn to give their dog a more comprehensive massage at home, we offer introductory canine massage workshops for pet owners. Please contact us for more information.
Your pet's reiki session
We currently offer reiki as an add-on service to your pet’s massage. It is important to have a quiet and calm environment for the animal to receive reiki. With healing intent set and the permission of your pet, various hand placements with little to no pressure circulate healing energy. Often our clients become so deeply relaxed that they fall asleep during the reiki session.
